We are looking for bright, motivated and commercially minded law students to join our Spring, Summer or Winter Clerk Programme in our Brussels office in 2027.
Our four-week Clerk Programme offers an opportunity to experience life at one of the world's leading international law firms. From day one, you will be immersed in real client work, gain exposure to complex cross-border matters and work alongside lawyers across a range of practice areas.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your legal and commercial skills, build your professional network and gain a deeper understanding of what a career at Baker McKenzie could look like.
What You Will Do
During the programme, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in one or two of our practice groups, including:
- Banking & Finance
- Commercial
- Corporate
- Dispute Resolution
- Employment & Compensation
- EU Competition & Regulatory Affairs
- Real Estate
- Tax
You will work closely with associates and partners on a variety of tasks, which may include:
- Conducting legal research
- Assisting with drafting and reviewing legal documents
- Supporting client matters and transactions
- Attending internal and client meetings where appropriate
- Preparing legal analyses and presentations
- Contributing to business development initiatives
Alongside your practical work experience, you will participate in a programme of learning and networking opportunities designed to provide a broader insight into the Firm, including:
- Skills and professional development workshops
- Practice group presentations
- Networking events with lawyers across the office
- Social activities with colleagues and fellow clerks
- Career development sessions and Q&A opportunities
Assessment for Junior Associate Opportunities
The Clerk Programme serves as a key pathway into our Brussels Junior Associate population. Participants will be assessed for potential Junior Associate opportunities within the practice group in which they complete their clerkship.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply, you must be:
- In the final year of a Belgian law degree; or
- In the first or second year of a Belgian law Master's programme; or
- Planning to undertake an LL.M. programme following completion of your Master's degree.
You must also have:
- Fluent Dutch language skills
- Business-level English
- Business-level French
- Excellent academic results
- A strong interest in international legal practice
