Description & Requirements

Baker McKenzie’s Washington, DC office seeks a current Tax LLM student for a part-time (15-20 hours per week, 3-4 months) law clerk position in their Tax practice. LL.M. Extern will support the Tax Practice Group on a variety of substantive matters, including:


Legal Research & Analysis

  • Conduct research on U.S. federal income tax, international tax, and partnership tax issues
  • Analyze statutes, regulations, case law, and IRS guidance

Drafting & Memoranda

  • Assist in drafting internal memoranda, client alerts, and tax analyses
  • Support preparation of tax structuring summaries for client matters

Transactional Support

  • Assist with tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and cross-border transactions
  • Review transaction documents and identify tax considerations

Client & Matter Support

  • Prepare research summaries and issue-spotting outlines for ongoing client matters
  • Support diligence efforts related to tax risks and structuring

Knowledge Management

  • Contribute to internal knowledge resources and precedent materials
  • Track developments in tax law and summarize relevant updates
