Run over two days, our First Year Insight Scheme offers a broad insight into how a big, global law firm like Baker McKenzie operates, with structured sessions to introduce you to our various departments and the work we do.

We’ll help you develop your commercial awareness and understanding of what being a Trainee Solicitor involves. Then, through a series of group tasks and interactive workshops, start to build the core skills you need to succeed in the role.

You’ll be allocated a Trainee buddy, who’ll be there to offer you advice and support. There’ll be plenty of networking opportunities too. You’ll also benefit from one-to-one sessions with our Graduate Recruitment & Development team.

• Who can apply?
  First-year students in any degree discipline.
• How long is it, and when?
  The scheme will be run over two days on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th May 2026.
• What are the eligibility requirements?
  You should be on-track for a 2.1 or above. We use a contextualised recruitment system, which enables us to consider those with real potential who fall slightly short of our criteria.
• Where is it based?
  At the Baker McKenzie office in London.
• Are expenses covered?
  We will cover expenses up to £150.
• When should I apply?
  Applications open 8th October 2025. Applications close 1st February 2026.
