Descripción y requisitos

The Senior Enterprise Business Architect will play a pivotal role within Enterprise Architecture by bridging the gap between business strategy and technology execution. The role‑holder will develop and maintain a business architecture that reflects the Firm’s strategic imperatives and operational activities by understanding, modeling, and optimizing the Firm’s core business capabilities, processes, organizational structures, and information flows across global Practice Groups (PGs) and business functions.

The individual will translate strategic imperatives into actionable architectural requirements, ensuring technology investments directly enable the Firm’s vision for delivering excellence, increasing market share, and fostering a high‑performance culture.

Main responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior business leaders, practice group heads, and the Innovation Group to understand strategic goals and translate them into a coherent business architecture roadmap
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive models of Baker McKenzie's business capabilities, identifying gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for optimization and innovation
  • Analyze current-state business processes to understand how the Firm delivers value; create insights to inform transformation teams aiming to identify inefficiencies and design future-state processes that leverage technology for improved efficiency, client experience, and cross-border collaboration
  • Ensure business architecture insights inform stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document high-level business requirements, ensuring they are clear, complete, and aligned with strategic objectives
  • Work closely with business relationship managers to align business cases and value propositions for proposed technology solutions, demonstrating clear Return on Investment (ROI) and alignment with the Firm's strategic imperatives
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, facilitating discussions, resolving conflicts, and building consensus around architectural decisions
  • Contribute to the overall enterprise architecture roadmap, ensuring business architecture insights inform technology planning and portfolio management
  • Collaborate with the Innovation Group to assess the business impact and feasibility of emerging technologies and innovative solutions, ensuring they address genuine business problems
  • Provide business leadership and mentorship to less experienced architects and cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders and business analysts, fostering a culture of architectural excellence and strategic thinking

Skills and experience:

  •  A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred
  • Extensive experience in business architecture, business analysis, or strategic consulting, with strong experience in a senior architectural role
  • Experience in a global professional services firm, ideally within the legal sector, with an understanding of law firm operations and client service models
  • Strong experience with business architecture frameworks, such as The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) and the Zachman Framework, as well as modelling tools
  • Able to translate complex business problems into clear architectural solutions and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with change management and organizational design principles
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset
  • Superior communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to influence and build consensus among diverse stakeholders globally
  • Deep understanding of Business Process Management (BPM) and organizational design
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to drive change
  • Familiar with emerging technologies (AI, automation, cloud) and their business implications
