Descrição e Requisitos

We are pleased to offer Thesis Internship (“uppsatspraktik”) for law students who will be writing their master’s thesis during the autumn semester of 2026. As a thesis intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience at an international law firm working with high‑profile matters within one of our practice groups.

During the autumn of 2026, we will welcome one to three students for a ten‑week, full‑time internship – for either the first semester, or the second half of the semester. Students will be assigned a supervisor from one of the following practice groups — Competition Law, Employment & Compensation, Commercial or Tax — who will guide them in their day-to-day work as well as in their thesis. The thesis is intended to be written within the practice group to which the student is assigned, while still allowing for collaboration and exposure across groups.

As a thesis intern, you will join a supportive and collaborative environment where teamwork, trust, and inclusion are core values—qualities our people consistently highlight as key strengths of working at Baker McKenzie.

You will

  • gain hands-on experience of working at an international business law firm
  • assist lawyers in the day-to-day legal work within the assigned practice group, with opportunities to work across all of our practice groups
  • conduct legal research by reviewing case law, preparatory works, and statutory materials to support ongoing matters and internal legal analyses
  • take part in introductions and internal training sessions to expand and deepen your overall legal knowledge
  • participate in social activities to get to know the firm and your colleagues, such as breakfast, working out sessions, and

We believe that

  • You are in the final phase of your law degree and will write your master’s thesis during the autumn
  • Your thesis topic is or will be related to any of our areas of expertise (Employment & Compensation, Competition, International Commercial & Trade or Tax)
  • You have a strong academic record and genuine interest in business law
  • You are curious, enjoy taking initiative, and contribute to a positive working environment
  • You can communicate clearly and professionally, in both Swedish and English

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be enrolled in a Master of Laws program at a Swedish university — Lund, Uppsala, Stockholm, Örebro, Göteborg, Karlstad or Umeå.

Each university differs in their rules regarding thesis internships, we follow the specific guidelines set by your university — internship periods must be approved by the university / student’s supervisor, and in some cases may require enrolment in a complementary course.
