We are seeking a highly capable Senior Associate to join our Restructuring & Insolvency (R&I) team within the Dispute Resolution practice.

The role offers the opportunity to work closely with a market‑leading R&I Partner who chairs global and regional initiatives and collaborates with top financial advisers, global law firms, and multinational clients. Given the complexity, urgency, and cross‑border nature of the work, this position requires deep specialization in R&I and the ability to manage high‑stakes contentious and non‑contentious matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle a broad range of R&I matters: distressed acquisitions, workouts, schemes of arrangement, winding‑up proceedings, provisional liquidations, receiverships, and enforcement actions.
  • Manage contentious restructuring matters involving listed companies and multi‑party disputes.
  • Act for financial advisers, liquidators, receivers, creditors, and corporate debtors.
  • Coordinate urgent hearings, time‑sensitive applications, and complex advisory matters.
  • Collaborate with FPG, CMG, M&A and TPG on integrated restructuring mandates.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Hong Kong, Mainland China, and APAC, as well as Europe and North America.
  • Support multi‑jurisdictional restructurings involving cross‑border assets, operations, and creditor groups.
  • Partner with Mainland China specialists on HK-China restructuring and insolvency matters.
  • Support BD activities with key referrers including financial advisers and insolvency practitioners.
  • Assist in industry engagement such as INSOL, government initiatives, and client presentations.
  • Contribute to thought leadership and market‑facing materials.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to junior lawyers.
  • Strengthen the team’s capacity to manage increasing workloads and long‑tail matters.
  • Support partner‑led global and APAC R&I initiatives and contribute to practice growth.

Key Requirements

  • Hong Kong-qualified solicitor with +5 years’ PQE.
  • Demonstrated experience in restructuring & insolvency, including contentious and non‑contentious mandates.
  • Strong knowledge of Hong Kong insolvency law and cross‑border restructuring frameworks.
  • Proven ability to handle heavy caseloads involving tight deadlines, urgent hearings, and multi‑stakeholder coordination.
  • Excellent advocacy, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong relationship‑building capabilities with financial advisers, corporates, and insolvency professionals.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑moving, high‑pressure practice with long‑tail matters and significant business impact.
  • Prior experience working with global clients and cross‑border teams is highly advantageous.
