The Applications Engineer will provide expert support and management of a portfolio of applications essential to the practice of law focusing on application reliability, performance, capacity, security and maximizing the overall value of the portfolio. 


Our Technology Practice of Law Solutions department is dedicated to ensuring a superior user experience by delivering value-added solutions, implementing technology adoption strategies, developing strategic roadmaps, and managing stakeholder relationships. 


Main responsibilities:


  • Provide technical and functional support to the business acting as an escalation point to resolve urgent and/or complex issues for all applications in the portfolio
  • Take ownership of incidents or problems assigned and see these through to completion on a timely basis
  • Assist the Product Manager with the analysis of applications and solutions and project-related tasks
  • Assist with the development of standardization and rationalization plans and ensure products meet the changing needs of the business throughout the product lifecycle
  • Assist with the proactive maintenance of systems by planning and adopting updates in a timely manner and determining the impact on existing operations by consulting with other IT teams
  • Participate in projects for enhancements and changes necessary to meet evolving business requirements for managed products
  • Maintain application documentation in relevant knowledge repositories and provide training to Service & Support Teams
  • Maintain and improve professional and technical knowledge and keep abreast of innovations and changes relevant to the portfolio
  • Maintain existing relationships with application providers within the product portfolio
  • Contribute to team efforts through communication, cooperation, and coordination with other IT teams, including Desktop Platforms, Security, and Technical Change Management
  • Understand how legal and business professionals use applications within the portfolio, monitor licensing and adoption, and help ensure efficient utilization.


Skills and experience:


  • Advanced level experience with M365 Apps and M365 Copilot
  • Awareness of and interest in technology trends relevant to the application portfolio, including AI agents
  • Exposure to troubleshooting complex documents and the applications that create them
  • Knowledge of M365 cloud platforms such as SharePoint and OneDrive
  • Experience executing application updates and upgrades
  • Experience with document productivity technology in a legal environment is highly desirable
  • Able to build and maintain trusted relationships and open two-way communication
  • Able to work independently and as a cohesive member of a team
  • Able to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Able to learn new skills in a short period of time
  • Excellent analytical ability
  • Understanding of the importance of teamwork within both the immediate and broader IT team
  • Able to translate functional issues and questions into application solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally in business language, both orally and in writing, in English
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
