You will report directly to Partner, Tharani Dharmaraj.

Our practice

Baker McKenzie's Transactional Practice Group is at the forefront of providing commercially astute advice to major Australian and global companies, fund managers, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds.

We’re renowned for our expertise in high-end mergers and acquisitions, and what truly sets us apart is our unmatched global reach. With offices across the world, we offer clients something no other Australian law firm can: a leading local practice seamlessly connected to a fully integrated global platform. This means you’ll work on cross-border deals that make front-page news, alongside some of the most respected legal minds in the industry.

Our areas of experience include corporate governance and compliance, corporate advisory, due diligence, foreign investment, hostile and recommended takeover bids, joint ventures and alliances, privatisation/corporatisations, public/private partnerships, as well as spin-offs, demergers and stock exchange listings, strategic commercial agreements, supply chain agreements and related advice and joint ventures.

This position sits within our Transactional Practice Group and will have a focus on M&A, general commercial work and corporate governance.

About you

You will have:

  • 3 - 4 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) at a reputable law firm in a corporate transactional practice;
  • general corporate experience, including private M&A, equity capital markets (ECM), and corporate governance;
  • strong experience in drafting and negotiating commercial supply chain contracts and collaboration agreements;
  • familiarity with procurement and supply chain matters, particularly for clients in the consumer goods and retail sector;
  • experience in internal re-organisations and carve-out transactions (highly desirable);
  • an ability to work closely with client contacts and manage relationships effectively;
  • excellent drafting skills, commercial acumen, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment; and
  • an ability to work well in a team environment (including across our Australian offices and internationally).
